Russia Supreme Court refuses Edward Murzin’s gay marriage complaint
In Moscow today the federal Supreme Court refused to amend Russia’s Family Code and authorize same-sex marriages. State Assembly-member Edward Murzin’s complaint brought the issue to the forefront. Murzin (shown right) demanded Family Code clauses 1 and 12 amended. The court ruled that amending the acting legislation is outside the scope of the court and dismissed it. We told you recently how the heterosexual Murzin tried to marry Eduard Mishin (shown left), editor of Queer magazine, to bring publicity to the issue. Murzin is determined to go to the European rights court in Strasbourg with his case.
