Connecticut women tried for Valentine marriage license again
Armed with protest placards and heart-shaped balloons, Jeanne Marshall and Brenda Miller stepped into Norwich, Connecticut, City Hall on Monday resigned to the notion they would not be leaving with what they came for. It kind of takes the fun out of Valentine’s Day, said Miller as she climbed the stairs toward the city clerk’s office on the second floor. For the past three years, Marshall, 51, and Miller, 43, have used Valentine’s Day to ask the city to legally take notice of their relationship. This year, as before, the answer was no. I’m terribly sorry, assistant city clerk Sandra Greenhalgh said, but the laws of Connecticut haven’t changed.
